Summer is the Perfect Time to Write

As of July 1st, the year was half over! July 1st is the Wednesday of the annual calendar, it’s an annual hump day (stop giggling!), and we’ll be on the downslide, smoothly sailing toward the end of the year. Summer will have just begun. The first day of summer arrives on June 21st and lasts until September 22nd.

As children, summer was long, lazy, and school-less. It meant watching TV for hours, swimming, running though sprinklers, and time for exploration. Remember when you were a kid and just a walk around outside led to discovery? A hidden ant colony, a cool-shaped branch that made a great wand, a great rock that perfectly fit the curvature of your body?

Agriculturally, summer is the time between planting and harvesting. It was a time of growth for the seeds planted in spring. The agricultural cycle works like this:

Spring is for planting seeds.
Summer is for growth and maintenance.
Autumn is the harvest, time to reap the rewards of what you have sown.
Winter is a time of death and regeneration. Plants die and await spring again.

Everyone reevaluates goals at the beginning of the year. Remember those 2005 writing goals? Whether you wrote down your goals or simply let them gestate inside your memory, they are there. How close have you come to realizing those goals? Are you half way there? If not, do not loose hope; do not beat yourself up with guilt! The cycle of nature is here to rescue you! I invite you now, at the tail end of spring, the time to plant seeds, to revisit your 2005 writing goals. What have you accomplished and stayed with? What haven’t you done? Recommit yourself during this summertime, this time for growth and maintenance. Start turning those goals into reality. How will you grow and maintain your craft this summer? What rewards do you want to reap in autumn?

Invest in the Future for Your Child, the Right Way to Invest the Two Hundred and Fifty Pounds

Heard about the Child Trust Fund? Not many UK parents appear to realise that all newborn children receive a free £250 voucher from the State to put in a Child Trust Fund. The child’s voucher can be invested in any one of three varieties of CTF account, Stakeholder – a shares-based account thatswaps into cash, a savings account or a shares account. It is a superb chance to prepare for the future requirements of a child

Scottish Friendly is an authorised provider of the Child Trust Fund The Government is eager for the public at large to have access to Stakeholder accounts and this is the form of account that we are supplying. This means that:

Investments are deposited into our Managed Growth Fund, which hopes to provide strong growth potential

It invests partly in shares to take advantage of potentially higher returns over 18 years, compared to a cash deposit account (although the value of shares can
fall as well as rise whereas capital would be protected in a deposit account)

It comes with a low ‘Stakeholder’ funds charge of just 1.5 percent per year

At age 18 the young person will receive a lump sum, entirely free of Capital Gains and Income Tax under current legislation

It’s affordable – additional payments can be put in the account from as little as £10

An interesting feature of the Child Trust Fund is that anyone – parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles, friends – may add to the Fund to an uppermost limit of £1,200 per year to help augment the child’s Fund (once added, this money is not allowed to be withdrawn).

Put succinctly our Stakeholder account offers a good balance between possible high returns and a reduced level of risk. There is also the extra assurance that our account is in accordance with with the Government’s stakeholder criteria. Nevertheless this does not mean that returns are guaranteed or that Stakeholder accounts are suitable for everyone. Remember that the value of shares in the Managed Growth Fund (where your Child Trust Fund money is placed) can go down as well as increase and is not guaranteed.

Only infants who were born on or after 1st September 2002 are authorised to open a Child Trust Fund. If you have older kids born before the above-mentioned date who are not entitled you could consider saving for them with a Child Bond – it’s a tax-free savings plan which was created for long-term growth.

The fact is that investing for a child.your children is a rewarding means of preparing for the future.

Psycho

I’m PSYCHO over you
I don’t know what to do
You are my OBSSESSION
Loving you is my COMPULSION

No amount of GESTALT THERAPY
can explain what you mean to me
I seem to have lost COGNITION
Involuntary SUBMISSION

It’s like INSANITY
It’s like loving you is INNATE to me
Your smile will stay in my LONG TERM MEMORY
Even AMNESIA cannot take it away from me

I know tonight you’ll be in my dreams
LUCID DREAMS of you and me
No NIGHMARE can ever invade
In my REM there’s no interruption

I will never HABITUATE
Because you are my STIMULUS
I hope you don’t get the HAWTHORNE EFFECT
‘Cause your face is so HYPNOTIC

I’m PSYCHO over you
I don’t know what to do
Please tighten STRAIGHTJACKET
I might wake from my CATATONIC slumber

Old Friend

ALONG our journey of life we meet different kinds of people. There are some who stays and there are some who leaves without a trace. When we are lucky enough and open to build relationship with others, we can have a lasting friendship with a few of them. It all depends on how one values the other.

Just recently, i have gotten a surprise from an old friend. It has been nearly four years without any contact or whatsoever with him. Am so glad to have an old buddy back. He’s been my best bud in college.

Our communication has come to a stop without any reason at all. Maybe we are just so tied up with life and don’t have enough time to talk and mind each other’s business. Not considering the distance as a factor for the sudden silence.

However, i guess there are friendships that lasts. That eventhough without a word, it has been an understatement that we both remain as we are.

Though it has been years, i can say that nothing has changed. He is still the same person i know. The ever truly, madly, deeply in love guy with our friend.

I salute him for having the courage to admit that he can’t live without her. I toast a cheer to him for the many sacrifices he has made just to keep their relationship going. I recalled him lamenting that nothings going right about them. But i had told him once that he has to make a decision as to whether he’ll let go or continue fighting and never give up.

I believe that what really makes a relationship work is each other’s dedication to stay together. When you are searching, you can never stop looking because there will always be someone better that will come along your way. That’s the importance of making a decision. You gotta put an end to your search and decide who’ll you spent life with.

I am proud of him for humbly acknowledging the fact that he can be restless without her. I know it took a lot of thinking for him. They have went through breakups. I know there has been times when he reached the point of saying that he had enough. But i am glad he hold on. You see, there are still together for years now.

He’s coming back is just at the right time. I think i need somebody from my past to remind me and assure that everything will be fine. I missed our talks and the feeling that somebody out there watches over me from afar.

Now i can tell him my stories. I can share my failures, depressions, and disappointments without feeling afraid he might not listen. I am confident he would love to hear my happy moments and victories.

Don’t know much what to say but it has made me realize that how nice it is to have friends from the past come to life again…

FREE Ezine Advertising That Works

Free Ezine Advertising That Works!

When I say free ezine advertising, I’m not talking about the free ezine ads that some publishers offer, this technique is FAR more powerful than that.

One of the best ways to get free traffic to your site, is to write articles for ezines.

Now before you shudder and click away, it isn’t that hard to write a good article.

If you’ve got a bout of writers block, just search for info related to the subject you want to write about, then re-write it in YOUR OWN words and style, do not copy.

Your article needs to be around 500 – 700 words, with short paragraphs, 5 or 6 sentences.

DON’T try and disguise an advert as an article and forget about putting in your affiliate links, publishers will delete it straight away, if you want to use this approach to promote an affiliate program, you should really get your own domain as it looks more professional.

Once you have put your masterpiece together, leave it a day, then come back to it and re-read it, you’ll be surprised what other nuggets of info pop out after a nights sleep, and how many errors seem to jump out at you.

When you’re sure your article is ready, run it through a spell checker and format it to 55 – 60 characters per line so the publisher can just cut-n-paste into their ezine.

Don’t forget to put your resource box at the bottom of the article! This is what’s going to get you a ton of free traffic to your site after all.

Believe me folks, just one half decent article can get you alot of free traffic, I remember one article I wrote was published in a ezine that had a circulation of 500,000, if I wanted to pay for advertising in this particular ezine it would have cost me over $400!

Not only does this technique save you money, it also gives you credability, and alot of ezines turn your articles into web pages that will remain there for years to come.

Get published, get credibility, get free traffic for years to come! I think that’s worth a little effort don’t you?

The Blog Factor: Everything you need to know to start bloggi

So what is this “blog factor”? Well, what a few thought was a novel idea some years ago has now morphed into something no one expected. There are currently nine million blogs out there with 40,000 new ones being added everyday. Some are informative and some are just downright a waste of your time. And while we hear a lot about blogging these days, what is blogging *really*? Blogging in its simplest term is like an online journal but much, much more powerful. Blogs (short for Web log) is a place where surfers can get up to the minute information on a topic or voyeur into someone’s life. Some blogs are nothing more than a daily glimpse into someone’s life, while others are so sophisticated, it’s hard to tell them apart from an online news service.
Why Blogs Matter
Google, the #1 search engine on the net, loves blogs. So much so that if you do it right Google will spider the heck out of your site. What does it mean to “spider”? Well spidering is when Google, or the like, searches your sites content to establish ranking, the more content you have (i.e. fresh content) the more Google will do its magic and push your site up the search engine. Another reason blogs matter is that they are interactive and, if you blog on your books topic, it will help to further your expert status on a particular issue. When we plan “Virtual Tours” for our authors, we include as many blogs as we can into a tour. Why? Because if you can get into a good blog that’s seeing a lot of traffic, you can really start to gain some exposure for your book.

What Would You Talk About?
This is the question we get asked most often. “If I start a blog, what on earth would I talk about?” Well if your book is non-fiction it’s pretty easy to figure out what your topic would be, but if your book is fiction it could get a bit tricky – but not impossible. An author I work with has a series of books starring one character – a private detective. I recommended that he “blog” this character, meaning that the character (not the author) would have the blog. It could be the character’s diary or adventures and stories – a glimpse into the life of a private detective. This would give the reader (and fans of this character) a reason to return to the blog for an update on this ongoing adventure or story. In another instance, I work with an author who wrote a fiction book about right and wrong with a new age/spirituality spin. I advised him to blog on issues related to that – right and wrong in our society and his own personal “spin” on these issues. Some of his blogs might be controversial but that’s okay, you want to create your own “voice,” your own take on a certain issue and if that opinion is controversial, all the better for exposure and for getting people to interact on your blog. Getting readers to respond to your posts is a great way to gain interest and momentum for your blog and (more importantly) getting people to talk about it will grow your blog like nothing else!
How to Start a Blog
Starting a blog is super easy. All you have to do is register at a blog site (like www.blogger.com) and get started. It’s that easy. The blog service will link to your site; you’ll need to ask your Webmaster to add a button to your home page so people can find your blog.
How to Blog Effectively
The best bloggers know that the more you add to your blog, the more traffic you’ll drive there. Some bloggers I know post daily, sometimes even multiple times a day while others post weekly. How much you post will probably depend on how much time you have to dedicate to this, the challenge will be that if you want to keep driving people to your blog, you’ll want fresh content. This doesn’t mean you have to create this all yourself, in fact you can invite people onto your blog and interview them, or you can just post a one paragraph “thought” on your topic. It doesn’t have to be complicated or long, it just has to be fresh. Also be innovative, as we discussed earlier, be different with your blog, have fun with it. It might seem complicated at first but once you get the hang of it, you’ll quickly become a blog expert!

Marrying a Russian Bride

There are many women today that want to leave their country to come to the United States. One way for these women to do this is to have someone from the United States buy them or marry them in order for them to leave their country and come to live in the states. This is a way for most of these women to leave behind a world of abuse or neglect and come to a free land.

A Russian bride is just one of the deals that can be bought. Many women in Russia long to come to America and have a happy and loving relationship with a man. This is something that they cannot do in their own part of the world. These women will decide to advertise themselves and have some man buy them for their bride. There are a lot of organizations that do this online and off. If you are interested in finding a wife this way, you will need to be careful and avoid the scams.

If the Russian bride decides that she does not want to be married to the man any longer, she will then be deported back to Russia and will lose her right to be in the States. It is sometimes a game between the man and the women just to be able to live in a wonderful country and have a loving family at the same time.

A Russian bride is someone that has grown up in Russia and now wants to become an American citizen. For this reason, they will allow their bodies to be bought by unknown men in which they will marry in return. These women will have to assume the role of wife to these men and remain that way in order to stay in the United States.

There are many online sites that offer this Russian bride service. When you visit these web sites, you will be able to see the women and find out some information about them. You will get to actually choose the women that you want to meet. After this, you can form a long distance relationship; buy writing letters, talking on the phone and possibly even meeting. The Russian bride may encourage the man to pay for tickets so that she can come for a visit.

After a short time period of getting to know one another, both the man and the women can decide if this is the right thing for them or not. Once decided, the women will then come to the United States to be married to the man. First however, the fee has to be paid to the agency in which she is sold from.

Both parties need to execute caution and be aware of the problems that can arise from this situation. Neither party wants to get scammed and in fact in some cases, both the Russian bride and the man are both looking for a meaningful and loving relationship to last a lifetime.

Planning your wedding

You found your soul mate; you said “yes” with all your heart; but now you have a big problem: you have never planned a wedding before. The best thing will be to hire a firm specialized in organizing weddings and other family events. But if you can’t do that, don’t panic! You can manage it anyway!

First of all you have to do some lists: the “to do” list, the guests list, the suppliers list, the potential receptions, photographers, bands and churches lists. And most important choose a date for the happy event and set a budget.

After you have done that, you have to book a restaurant for the celebration and a church for the religious ceremony. Then you have to decide on a pair of God parents (and ask them if they want to be on your side on such an event), the future bridesmaids, the flower girls and the ring bearer, the best man.

Don’t forget that it is also very important to obtain a marriage license (that should still be available on your wedding day).

Take your time to choose the wedding rings, the bride’s gown, veil, other accessories and groom’s suit. The invitations should be carefully selected, because they are the ones that give the first clue about the future wedding.

Talk to a business specialized in wedding decoration to help you create the perfect atmosphere at the church and at the party site. Also be sure to check the reception menu and order your ideal wedding cake.

The videos and photos are meant to last for a life time! Take your time to have a look at the previous work of the chosen photographer, just to feel more confident in the quality of his/her work.

A wedding is a time of happiness and joy! The right music can create a perfect atmosphere. Maybe you can’t please everybody, but a diversification will do no harm. And it would be better to practice with your mate the opening dance (remember that you’ll be in the center of everybody’s attention).

And in the meantime, keep yourself calm, love your partner and think optimistic: nothing is as hard as it seems.

Beautiful Blooms – A Bride’s Guide to Floral Planning

One of the major aspects of planning for your wedding stems from your floral considerations. For a bride, there are many various things to think about when plotting your bridal blooms.

Most brides first think of their wedding bouquet. This is a treasured design that can either be made with fresh flowers or false ones. Bridal bouquets can range from simple and elegant to extravagant and amazing.

As a bride, you may want to choose a theme for your nuptials. Many have more than one type of flower – others pick between romantic roses, calla lilies, gerbera daisies, forget-me-nots, and lily of the valleys.

A bride’s bouquet can either be made from a single type of flower of from a variation of many flowers. In ancient times, brides carried herbs and spices to ward off evil spirits and give them a start in their married life based on good fortune and happiness.

Romans and other cultures used flowers during the wedding ceremony for fertility symbolism. In modern times, people send flowers as a way of saying “I love you,” “Thank you,” or some other form of happy wishes.

Aside from the bridal bouquet, a groom will need a boutonnire – which is a small flower worn on his tuxedo. This custom originated from medieval days when men wore the colors of their women as a sign of love and admiration.

Some brides choose their bridal blooms, not based on color or personal tastes, but on the meaning behind the flowers.

Regardless of how you choose your flowers, you’ll want to plan for them based around the season your blooms are available. Does it coincide with your coming nuptials, or will you be paying twice as much just to get out of season flowers?

Here are some of the most popular floral choices, along with their meaning and seasonal availability:

* Red roses mean love and are available year-round.

* White roses represent unity and are also available all year.

* Calla Lilies equate beauty and are easily found March-September.

* Lily of the Valley means happiness and is also found March-September.

* Orchids stand for love and beauty and are yearly blooms.

Before you choose a flower, find a nearby floral vendor and visit their shop to see what kinds of blooms they’ve arranged. Good flower vendors should have a book for you to peruse to see previous arrangements they’ve created.

When you finally settle on a type of flower for your bouquet, you’ll also need to choose flowers for the other members of your bridal list – including the bridesmaids and groomsmen, ushers, ring bearer, male and female family members in attendance, and petals for the flower girl to distribute.

You’ll also have to choose floral arrangements for the décor of the location for your ceremony and reception, including the aisles, altars, tables, and traditions such as the tossing of the bouquet (you’ll want a mini-bouquet so that you can keep your real one as a keepsake).

As you’ll find when searching for flowers to decorate your special day, some options will be affordable while others may be out of your budget. Be sure to ask your florist about alternate flowers that are equally as beautiful, but less expensive if you have your heart set on something outside of your financial realm.

Fruit Bouquets: How to make your Wedding Bouquet a Talking Point

Are you looking for something a bit different for your wedding day? Something that
shows how trendy, fun-loving and interesting you are, without being tacky? Well
instead of using a normal every-day boring bouquet of flowers, why not make
yourself a bouquet made of fruit?

Yes thats right I said fruit!

Now you’re probably thinking that a fruit bouquet would be interesting, but that it
might not be quite the look you want for your wedding. In fact, maybe you’re
thinking a fruit bouquet would just look plain ridiculous!

Well, I think you’ll be surprised how good a fruit bouquet can actually look. If you
keep the bouquet small and prepare the bouquet carefully, you can have a really
great looking wedding bouquet that will definitely be a talking point amongst your
family and friends afterwards.

The trick is to not overload the bouquet with too much fruit. If you add too much
fruit, it will start to look tacky, and you’ll have trouble carrying the bouquet down
the aisle!

So what fruit do you use in a fruit bouquet?

I suggest using a variety of small fruits like:

  • Apricots
  • Nectarines
  • Mandarines
  • Passionfruits
  • Small apples
  • Kiwi fruit
  • Strawberries

One thing to be aware of when chosing your fruit, is that some fruits (like
strawberries), will stain if you are not careful. Just wrap them in cellophane, and you
won’t have to worry about everything getting stained.

Make sure you use small pieces of fruit. This will allow you to make a fairly decent
sized bouquet, without having to worry about your arm dropping off when you’re
carrying it!

Once you’ve chosen your fruit, you need to wire the fruit into the bouquet. You will
need to use heavy gauge wire, which you can get from your local flower shop.

You can either put the wires straight through the fruit and then tape the wires, or
you can wrap the fruit in cellophone first, and then wire and tape.

The next thing to do is add some leaves to the bouquet. I like to use big leaves, as
they make it look like the fruit is hiding in the leaves. This make the fruit bouquet
more subtle, and stops it from looking like a fruit basket.

You can also cut a bunch of leaves off a fruit tree and wire the fruit amongst the
leaves. Make sure the branch is fairly straight. This will allow you to tape the branch,
and will add a more bridal look to the bouquet.

Finally, place some ribbon bows near the leaves, to soften the fruit bouquet, and to
add some elegance.

As you can see, it isn’t too hard to make a fruit bouquet, and it’s definitely
something you should consider if you want something a little more interesting than
a regular flower bouquet for your wedding. And there’s the added advantage, that if
you get hungry later, you’ve got something handy to eat!
