Cards that "Kill the Action"

There are many ways that a previously action filled board can suddenly get shut down. In poker hands where two or more players have a large holding early on, there are many flops, turns, and rivers that can come that scare all players involved into the idea that they are behind, or could be, and thus should be more cautious about putting money into the pot.
For instance, when preflop a player has KK and another player has QQ, and they see the flop after a raise and a reraise only to see the board come down with an ace on it, suddenly neither player really cares for their hand. Same as when a new high card comes on the turn: the texture of the board has changed. Whereas if three undercards came, odds are that both online poker players are going to end up raising and reraising, resulting in a large pot. Action killing cards can turn what would have been a monster into a check check situation.
All this is a great argument for the idea of slow playing less, and betting aggressively more at the poker online room. Though we tend to like to try to milk pots, sometimes the better way to do this is to act before your opponent, or you, has a chance to get scared by coming cards.
