It was inescapable actually that their conversation should begin about jackets. As Paola sat down, Derek related, ‘nice jacket’, and both giggled.
‘thank you, I bought it off this wierd small dude that wears womens hooded jackets and sells ladies leather jackets to unsuspecting girls customers ‘. They giggled again. Paola waved to one of the barmen and signed her way to an espresso, corto. She had spent many an hour here and they knew her well. Another barman brought it out for her. She thanked him and smiled. Derek viewed her thru his shades and thought what an excellent disposition she had. Then he recollected that he had brought her something, and that he had so much to let her know. He did not really know where to start, so he pulled out the badge he had made for her. He had put it in a box. It was a bit rather more like a corsage than a brooch be thought she would know what to do with it. She was very stylish and although he hadn’t got any idea what she did on behalf of a living, he was sure it was something creative. It needed to be. Alternatively, it needed to be something to do with fashion in 1 way or another. She reminded him of Audrey Hepburn and was enthusiastic to show her his finished designs.
‘This is for you’ he claimed. ‘It is my wsay of apologising for being less than brilliant company today. I was up terribly late yesterday evening completing some designs and realized that I would need to make up for my exhaustion. I am hoping you’re keen on it ‘.
