Trying to disprove the prevalent notion that a ‘flat rate’ price model cannot be successful, Vodafone has come up with a new unlimited deal that could change the mobile broadband market dynamics in the UK.

Customers can register for the service on a 12, 18 or 24-month contract basis. A free dongle is being given away as an incentive to those who register for a connection that lasts for 18 months or more. However, for those who are hesitant to commit to a connection for a long period, Vodafone Mobile Broadband is also offering a 30-day rolling contract.

Most deals currently available in the market curb the extent to which one can download data by fixing limits depending on the monthly fee one pays for the connection. Vodafone is sure to raise a few eyebrows in the industry by offering the unlimited data download option considering that most industry insiders feel such an arrangement is not feasible in the long run.

The fee of £18 for a month plus VAT for the new Vodafone package seems to be a real bargain for unlimited download when compared to deals offered by other service providers. Customers are currently paying £15 a month for a download limit of 3GB. Although higher data download limits of 10GB to 15GB are available in the market, they tend to burn a much deeper hole in the customer’s pocket. The attractive package terms, coupled with speeds of up to 7.2Mb, make the Vodafone offer something that new customers will find hard to resist.
